Food and Cooking

The Lunch Post

stir fryI’m not quite a foodie.  I would kind of like to be a foodie.  I love food and cooking, I adore eating out.  I read chef memoirs and I’m addicted to the show Chopped.  But I’m not quite adventurous enough to be a True Foodie, and try as I might I can’t take stuff like artisenal toast seriously.

I am, however, the Queen of Southeast Asian Bachelor Chow.

SABC is one of those things you do with leftovers.  I’m working from home today, which naturally leads to a lunch of leftovers.  Actually, pretty much every day leads me to a lunch of leftovers, and I ask you to respect my lifestyle choice.

It’s really quite simple:  You look in the fridge, find a mix of leftover veggies, and that half an onion that always seems to lurk at the bottom of the drawer, chop them up, throw them in a hot pan with some oil or the other, fry it all up, and then add good soy sauce over top and mix in those leftover noodles, or rice that are always in there too.  If feeling ambitious, one also chops up ginger and garlic.

Today’s was broccoli slaw with last night’s asparagus, mixed up with the cold sesame noodles.  Life is good.
